Mosaic will seek grants to assist in the restoration of the South Parcel. Restoration work is anticipated to include the removal of exotic lead trees. Mosaic will also implement a maintenance schedule for the spoil area to reduce the potential for nuisance/exotics. This is not listed as a NEB project in DRI Development Order 242.
The South Parcel is also the site of a significant Hydrology Restoration with Oyster Reef and Tidal Creek Creation and Enhancement Project completed in 2013 as part of the Consent Decree between Mosaic and the Natural Resources Trustees. This Project includes: a) connecting the Giant’s Camp marina basin to an existing tidal creek by way of creation of a 1,050 linear foot waterway; b) reopening approximately 2,100 of remnant tidal creek through mangrove habitat closed to adequate tidal flows; c) widening existing waterways and removing blockages to sheet flow; d) improving the hydroperiod in an impounded tidal pond; and e) creating oyster reef habitat along the seawall of the marina basin. |
