Exotic Species Map, 2000
Approximately 26.46 acres of Brazilian Pepper were eradicated on this parcel between 11/15/04 and 12/15/04 to compensate for loss of competitive balance between mangroves and exotics as a result of mangroves that were damaged during the Hurricane Frances process water event in September 2004. This is not listed as a NEB project in DRI Development Order 242.
This parcel is also the site of the Borrow Pit Hydrological Restoration and Wetland Enhancement Project completed in 2013 as part of the Consent Decree between Mosaic and the Natural Resources Trustees. A 900-foot tidal creek and 1.0 acre tidal pond were created and connect to the Delaney Creek Pop-Off Canal. A saltern was also created adjacent to the wetland to provide additional habitat diversity. |
